Learning To See

For the first project in my photography class, we did something called 'learning to see'. We started by going to five different locations with a pencil and notebook, then writing down what we would take a picture of in each location. The next day we went back out with a camera to actually take the pictures we wrote down.
We did this to learn how to think about taking pictures. To look around and see what would make the best photos. I learned that sometimes photos won't come out exactly how you think they will. I found it was easier for me to look for the best photos when I had a camera with me. For example, the first day I found this beautiful flower, it was yellow, big, and looked like a star. When I went outside the next day, it had shriveled and died. I cursed myself for not taking the picture the day before, even though the project wasn't to take pictures the first day. I took a lot of great photos that day, but some of them weren't written on my paper.
